Since 2021, I've centered my work on rest, recovery, and mental health. I was pulled into this conversation by the pandemic burnout running rampant among my clients during my own season of burnout.
Personal branding for high achievers in the middle of burnout felt like wrapping someone's sprained ankle while they bled out from a stab wound. The burnout felt most urgent. That conversation isn't leaving my work — but I'm seeing my connection to a larger one much more clearly.
The same person, at different points in the journey
A journalist reviewing The Rest Revolution once said she was surprised she could learn so much about burnout from a personal branding coach. After five years circling these topics, I realized the Package Your Genius client and The Rest Revolution client are the same person at different parts of their journey.
Anyone who dares to package their genius is inherently ambitious. That's also the profile of a high achiever who, without sustainability in mind, will push themselves to exhaustion.
It's a pendulum that swings back and forth between the highs of creation and the lows of burnout.
From the uncertainty of a blank canvas that asks, Am I good enough? to the overwhelm of a whiteboard overflowing with leads, orders, students, and clients. This is the predictable pattern: swinging back and forth, and back again.
Building from a rested place
My inner pendulum is swinging back up. I'm still invested in helping you rest, but I'm also undeniably gifted at, and energized by, helping you build. What's different about me today is that I want to help you package your genius from a rested place. I want to help you front-burner your joy so you can work in ways that feel good to you. It's not either/or.
PURPOSESCAPING teaches us that no season is wasted. There's a time to grow (not grind) and a time to rest.
Why building matters now
In 2025 the United States recorded over one million layoffs, the highest since the pandemic, and about 300,000 of them were Black women. Imagine a million people losing their homes in the same year: they have the materials to rebuild, but no tools. My tool shed is full of perfectly good hammers and ladders collecting dust.
So I'm still talking about rest. I'm still facilitating sound baths. But I'm also still coaching, and making my proven frameworks accessible to people who need new ways to bring in income in an economy content to replace them.
